Macedonia Family Enrichment Program
Helping to empower and equip veterans, the disabled and disadvantaged children and families living in
Tacoma/Pierce County Washington.
The family enrichment program provides our participants with the opportunity to become self-sustaining. Providing quick
access to the basic necessities (i.e, food, clothing, housing, and improvement in overall quality of life).
Helping dislocated workers, veterans, disabled persons, and low-income residents of Tacoma/Pierce County WA
overcome barriers to independent living, such as, homelessness, basic education, child care, transportation, work
clothing, low self-esteem, and disabilities.
Many of the services provided by the family enrichment program are not found in the Department of Social and Health
Services , such as, housing referrals, Social Security Application Preparation, Navigating DSHS to locate the right
service for program participants, Veterans Services including filing for service connected and non-service connected
disabilities, FAFSA Application Preparation and filing for Student financial Aid, Ticket to Work Program Employment
Network, and help with navigating Government and community resources.
Services at the family enrichment program are Tailored to each participants skills, abilities, and needs.
Instructional methods and tools include but not limited to: Lectures, assessments, mock interviews, demonstrations,
discussion periods, role playing, videos, power point demonstrations, hand-outs, and practical applications.
The family enrichment program provides on-going, much needed support network with emphasis on educating
program participants on community and government resources, building positive peer-mentoring relationships,
training in financial management, personal accountability, social skill development, parenting, job training, job
placement, and removing personal barriers to independent living.
This holistic approach aims to move participants to sustainability.
